The FRANK THE TANK Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is in honor of Frank Lozoya, a four-time GBM (brain cancer) survivor. After being diagnosed in 2001 at the age of 19, Frank went on to beat the odds by undergoing two brain surgeries, three rounds of radiation, and a variety of chemotherapy treatments.
During his long battle, Frank was employed with the Tustin School District as a Behavioral Interventionist working specifically with autistic children. While undergoing treatment to curtail his brain tumor growth, Frank attended California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). Through hard work, determination, and a scholarship from Cancer for College, Frank managed to complete his studies and graduated in May 2014, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.
The Frank The Tank Scholarship in partnership with Cancer for College is Frank’s “pay-it-forward” to a college student, who is dealing with the challenges of completing university curriculum while undergoing treatment for cancer, or the long lasting side effects of cancer treatments (i.e. chemo brain). In addition to financial support, the recipient of this scholarship will also receive ongoing resource support from members of Team Frank the Tank, to facilitate university graduation!
